English poem
To a Lady, XVII
by A. Cleveland Coxe (1818–1896)
This eye hath but an hour to serve, And its fine work is broke forever; The worm shall gnaw its tender nerve, And blessed light illume it never. A moment more—and all is dark; This orb, that beauteous shapes have brighten’d, And lighted like a diamond spark, Shall palsy, ne’er to be enlighten’d!
