Praise God, my soul; for He is…

by (1746–1835)

Listen in the reader

Praise God, my soul; for He is good. He has preserved me through the night; He gives me health; He gives me food.— He bless'd me with this morning's light.

With pity, Lord, regard my youth; From ill protect me through this day Lies make me hate, and love the truth, In mercy hear me when I pray.

ANOTHER day of life is past, I'm so much nearer to my grave. Lord, let me not time idle waste, But live like those Thy grace shall save.

In silent watches of this night, Bliss me with Thy paternal care; That on return of morning-light, My heart Thy praises may declare.
