Ode to the GENIUS of IRELAND

Listen in the reader

IERNE's Genius deign to smile. And with thy smiles our bosom cheer; O still protect this much lov'd isle, Propitious grant this pious prayer. May Hibernia ever be The seat of arts and Liberty.

Albion reigns, the world's great Queen, And glory rears her standard there; She smiles, and all is quite serene, She frowns and realms are struck with fear. May Hibernia ever be The seat of arts and Liberty.

May Ireland to its power increase, And still in trade and wealth advance, Be bold in war be blest in peace, And rise upon the fall of France. May Hibernia ever be The seat of arts and Liberty.
