English poem
PSAL. CXX. A song of Degrees
by Anonymous
To the Lord cri'd in my straits, and he did answer me. From lying lips and guileful tongue O Lord, my soul set free. What shall to thee a false tongue give? or what on thee confer? Sharp arrows of the mightie one with coals of Juniper.
O wo is me that sojourning in Meshech I reside! That I also within the tents of Kedar do abide. Long time my soul hath dwelt with him that peace doth much abhor. I am for peace, but when I speak, they readie are for war.
