Psalm CXLII. Long Metre. Deliverance from trouble and sorrow
by Anonymous
To thee great God, I will disclose, In sad recital all my woes; Because thine eyes, with steady view, Thro' sorrows gloom, my steps pursue.
On every side I cast mine eye, But found no friend or helper nigh; No lenient tongue my grief to cheer, No eye to drop the social tear.
Then, mighty God, to thee I cry'd, In whom I can my hopes confide; Be thou my refuge, while I live, And when I die, my soul receive.
Do thou my prison doors unbar, So shall my tongue thy love declare; And righteous men with me shall join To celebrate thy power divine.
