English poem
SAWNEY; A Scotch AIR
by Anonymous
Sure Sawney is the blithest swain, Of all around the Tweed, He tends the sheep upon the plain, And tunes his oaten reed.
He calls me his dear life and care, And his own Moggy too, And vows by all that's good and fair, To me he will prove true.
So Sawney is a worthy swain, And I'll be Sawney's wife, Then bid adieu to care and pain, And so be blest for life.
