The Camp of Beauty. a New Song

Come all, ye lovely virgins, come, Obedient to the beat of drum, Which calls for volunteers: Hark! hark! the joy inspiring sound Will make each captur'd heart rebound, And chace all qualmish fears. Then haste to Beauty's Camp away, Where Cupid arm'd in proud array, With quivers, bows and darts, Invites you all—come follow me, To happiness and victory, To conquer soldiers hearts. Come all, ye lovely virgins, &c.

Each blooming maid, who wants a mate, To bless her in the bridal state, Not bent on leading apes, To Beauty's Camp with me repair, For O, how happy is the fair, Who such a doom escapes? Reflect then—O reflect on this, And fly to meet the proffer'd bliss, That Hymen holds in view; For, chear'd by Love's delighting ray, Each virgin fair may glad obey My charming rat-tat-too! Come all, ye lovely, &c.

See Venus, Cupid, Hymen too, (Who form a league in aid of you) Encamp'd in Beauty's field: Soon to your bright enchanting eyes, Supported by such great allies, The bravest heart must yield. For till in parley they produce, In Beauty's Camp a flag of truce, The cannon of your charms Shall ply their breast at such a rate, They'll soon surrender to their fate, And gladly club their arms. Then come, ye lovely virgins, &c.
