THE SAILOR's MEDLEY, SONG
by Anonymous
Though foster'd in the humble cot, My friends of low degree; A higher state I envied not, While blest with liberty.
Then sweetly danc'd the hours away; What sorrow could I prove? With all to make the bosom gay, Sweet liberty and love.
But now my heart is full of woe; Ah! well-a-day poor me! The worst of misery to know The loss of liberty!
Yet still be calm, my anxious breast, Hope comfort from above; Kind heav'n again can make me blest With liberty and love.
