A few verses on the occasion, to the former Minister PITT
by Benjamin Church (1734–1778)
For Americans relief, appear kind Mister Pitt, Who eat nought of your beef, tho' flog'd with the spit; Intercept that old t—f, the Sc—m-n's fav'rite toast, That feasteth on the beef, and do not pay the roast: Pray take wit in thy wrath, when met for our relief; Sc—m-n you know love broth, pray let us taste the beef.
