Epigram, on Le Fevre's Curing the Gout
by George Saville Carey (1743–1807)
Old Guttle, one morning, was making a rout, And grinn'd with the pangs of the tort'ring gout, Nurse talk'd of a cure; but he would not believe her; She told him, the gout was now cur'd by a Fever. Then I'll keep the gout, madam Nurse, if you please, Your remedy's worse than my present disease.
