Ode IX. to a Lady
by John Pinkerton (1845–1908)
Daughter of Beauty, can the rose That animates thy wanton smile, The rapturous fire thy eyes disclose, Thy form that mocks the painters toil, The Graces all that round thee glide, Restore that fairest grace, a spotless name, The loveliest rose of virgin shame, The calm desire, and virtue's decent pride?
