English poem
On the Snuff of a Candle's falling into a Lady's Bosom
by Joseph Hazard (1807–1892)
If, Caelia, from so slight a flame, Such torments you endure, Let Strephon some attention claim, Who sighs—nor hopes a cure.
O! if a Taper's transient smart Thy breast to anguish turns; To pity, learn, a tortur'd heart, That more intensely burns.
