English poem
My dears who now this book have…
by M. Pelham
My dears who now this book have read, I hope will mind all it hath said; And never speak a word that's wrong, But heed the advice of this my song, And always do as you are bid, Then you will not, I'm sure, be chid; But be admired by all who see, How good and chearful you can be. Be wise and good, and you'll secure Esteem, which always shall endure.
