CHRIST exalted to be a Prince and a Saviour. Acts v. 31
by Philip Doddridge (1773–1832)
Exalted Prince of Life, we own The royal Honours of thy Throne: 'Tis fix'd by GOD's Almighty Hand, And Seraphs bow at thy Command.
Exalted Saviour, we confess The sov'reign Triumphs of thy Grace; Where Beams of gentle Radiance shine, And temper Majesty divine.
Wide thy resistless Sceptre sway, Till all thine Enemies obey: Wide may thy Cross its Virtue prove, And conquer Millions by its Love.
Mighty to vanquish, and forgive! Thine Israel shall repent and live, And loud proclaim thy healing Breath, Which works their Life, who wrought thy Death.
