English poem
This Afternoon
by Ring Lardner
O shivering creatures Down there in the bleachers, And fans in the cold concrete stand, You’ve willfully chosen To come and get frozen, While I must be here or get canned.
You leave when you care to, While I must prepare to Remain to the end, I suppose. I’ll perish, I fear me, But one thought will cheer me: That I didn’t pay to be froze.
