English poem
Mine ain dear Somebody
by Robert Tannahill (1774–1810)
When Gloamin’ treads the heels o’ Day, And birds it courin’ on the pray, Alang the flow’ry hedge I tray To meet mine ain dear omebody.
The cented brier, the fragrant bean, The clover bloom, the dewy green, A’ charm me as I rove, at e’en; To meet mine ain dear omebody.
Let warriors prize the hero’s name, Let mad Ambition tow’r for fame, I’m happier in my lowly hame, Obcurely blis’d wi’ omebody.
