O Johnson! fam'd for elegance and sense
by Anonymous
O Johnson! fam'd for elegance and sense, Whose works instruction and delight dispense; Where nice correction charms our wondering eyes, And in whose lines embellish'd beauties rise; Say! will you deign this humble verse to hear, Sprung from your thoughts, and nurtur'd by your care: A female bard, unknown to wit or fame, To you inscribes what from your genius came.
