O Listen Then

by

Listen in the reader

O LISTEN then, and silent feel A wretched stranger's hapless lot, Let pity on thy bosom steal, And selfish motive be forgot; Then act a father's tender part, And raise a wretched drooping heart.

O kindly then thy aid extend, Avert the near impending blow, Or soon, alas! my sorrows end, Soon the tear shall cease to flow Then act a father's tender part, And raise a wretched drooping heart.
