LINES, addressed to the FAIR-READERS of the FLOWER-GARDEN

Mental pleasure here you'll find, Pleasures that adorn the mind; Transient are the joys of sense, They no solid bliss dispense.

Wisdom with assuaging pow'r Sooths us in affliction's hour, Brings a balm that gives relief, To the care-worn heart of grief.

When in the female form is seen Beauty with complacent mien, Combin'd with sense and innocence, Resistless is their influence.

Oh! be it yours sweet maids to know Joys that from pure reflection flow; This truth impress upon your heart, That virtue must our bliss impart.
