OUr Holy Mediator Christ In time appear'd in flesh, To reconcile our Souls to God, In Truth and Righteousness.

Our nature be upon him took, On which grim Death did pass, And to appease his Fathers wrath He Crucified was.

This pow'r he had to lay life down And take it up again, The God-head in him did triumph, Altho' his flesh had pain.

And conquering he has took place At his Fathers right hand: The Cherubims of Glory all About his Throne do stand.
